Please do all you can to support the club
Congratulations to Stu Fisher and the first team on an excellent victory on Saturday away to Copford. Match reports for the first and second team can be found on this site. Please consider using our web shop to access your favourite online shops. If you would like the second team report emailed to you do let me know.
Fun Day
We are now financially dependent on the success of our fun Day so please do all you can to support it. The day will once again include our fantastic firework display and will take place on August BH Monday 25th. We need help with catering, bar, car parking, prizes, competitions, BBQ and the cricket tournament.
A club open meeting will take place on Monday evening, 7th July 8.15pm at the Club house to discuss arrangements and all members and parents and most welcome. If you can’t attend the meeting please return a message to me pledging any support that you can.
Presidents Day
Our President KB and his wife Ann will be hosting their Presidents Day on Sunday 27th July and will take the form of a four team six/seven a side tournament which will be run on similar lines to the successful day late last season. The teams will be named after our generous sponsors and captained by the chairman; first team captain, Sunday captain and mid week captain. The day will start with player registration at mid day with bacon sandwiches available for players on arrival [small charge]; a traditional cricket tea will be provided by KB and Ann during the afternoon. All members together with those juniors who have played adult cricket this season are invited to participate; if you would like to play please return a message to me.
Fathers and sons games
We hope to have two fathers/sons [or even daughters] twenty/20 games; one for the older members of the youth section will take place on Monday 4th August and the other for the under 13s on Monday 11th August. Both games will start at 6pm.
Sponsorship
We still have a number of matches available for sponsorship and the first team and second teams are also available for sponsorship. Team sponsorship costs £150 whilst a single match can be supported at a cost of £15
Now for the moans
These are from feed back received from captains and vice captains and I would ask that all players react positively and do all they can to help out.
Selection
Of course all officers and captains realise that there is life outside of cricket but the first team in particular has suffered during the early part of the season with late call offs and players not committing to availably until late in the week. Players are asked to commit to playing as early in the week as possible and only call off for genuine emergencies.
Bar and tea duties
We have enjoyed some fantastic teas and all captains join me in expressing our appreciation to all who have given support.
A reminder to those on bar duties that responsibilities involve washing glasses and putting them away, wiping down tables and surfaces, checking changing rooms, turning off showers and the hot water in the kitchen area, ensuring sight screens have been lowered and locking all doors and the gate. These duties are sometimes left to the captains [or vice captains] which is a bit unfair. Any shortages should be notified to me.
