Ground and Club Committee Update - 3rd September
Following John Reed’s resignation Phil Reed will act as club secretary until the AGM. The AGM will be in January this year and details will be circulated as soon as the chairman has set a date. Phil has written to JR thanking him for his loyal and efficient service over the last 35 years. Mouse has agreed to handle all licensing matters relating to the bar.It is expected that team captains would ensure attendance at the various league meetings. The treasurer informs us the club’s finances are in a healthy state. The club is still in the process of progressing both Focus Club and Club Mark accreditation. Phil will write to the Suffolk Cricket Development manager to outline the clubs’ position on the Focus Club application. The Club Mark application, which is being processed by Mark Blackledege, has stalled awaiting the arrangement of the autumn series of coaching course. The end of season work party will take place on Saturday 22nd September. Geoff Fisher will be asked to level the mounds of debris in the southeast corner of the ground. A storage shed will be purchased by DF which will be erected behind the changing room. Undergrowth around the trees will be tidied up and in the spring consideration will be given to removing the supports and deer protection. A new fence will be installed (conditional an obtaining a grant from St Eds District council for half the cost). It will be 1 metre high and positioned around the northern and western boundaries only. Mouse will progress. A grant is in the process of being sought to allow the installation of another practise net in the north east corner of the ground, Phil is progressing. The seat in the south east corner needs pressure washing and preserving; volunteers sought to carry out this task on 22nd? Sight screens need painting; volunteers sought for 22nd? DF to research possible replacement parts needed for the roller. Cricket D.O. to be asked about the availability of equipment grants. Wez will purchase a new strimmer. Stu F and Stu H seeking estimates for the professional replacement of a number of wickets with a view to carry out this work in the autumn of 2008. Research to take place on the possibility of receiving a grant to carry out this work. A request was made to purchase a boundary rope which was refused as it was felt that the positioning of this would cause considerably more work for ground staff. The purchase of this item would also cause additional problems with storage. The covers would be secured very firmly for the winter by DF and his gang on the 22nd. Mouse to ask Geoff Copsey to price boxing in the western side of veranda. Mouse will repair shower swing door. Seating in home team changing room needs repair on 22nd. All club house windows have been now replaced for which a £250 grant has been received by parish council. Mouse seeking an estimate for the replacement of the main club house door. Tap in the gents toilet to be replaced by DF Mouse given approval to purchase additional table for the club house.
